Lady Luck
Handmade and Donated by Marlin Wegner

Here we have a copy of a Fender Telecaster Guitar.
I call her “Lady Luck”.
It is meant to inspire memories of a simpler time when the King was at the top of the charts and Cadillac’s were all that. It was built to be reminiscent of the original black guard Telecasters from days past, though I have taken liberties in the interpretation. (White vs. blonde. Gold vs chrome)
The finish is a transparent Olympic White, slightly darker at the edges. Olympic white is more of a blue/gray white than a true snow white. This finish is known as Mary Kaye White and was made popular by the 50’s recording artist Mary Kaye who recorded with Les Paul. All hardware is gold plated. Electronics are set up in vintage fashion using quality parts. The pickups were scavenged from another guitar for this build, because I was shooting for vintage tone with a bit of a bite, and these give that sound. The bridge pickup is slightly hotter than what would be true vintage.

This guitar was meant to become part of my private collection. However, since I have more guitars than most people have socks, I figured I could part with this one for the worthy cause. Long ago I gave up buying guitars when I learned to build a higher quality instrument than is generally available at the local music shop. Because I build my own, I do not use logos of the major manufacturer’s. Thus you will find my name in place of their logos. I rarely sell the guitars I build (sold one in the last 10 years – doesn’t mean I don’t get numerous requests), however I have parted with a few. They were given to children in need or donated to a cause such as this. So the only way, to this point, that anyone acquires one of my guitars is via gift or through auction for a cause I have supported. So the high bidder will have a true one of a kind , well until I get the urge to build one for myself (after all I am giving this one up you know). Ok, so there might be 2 in existence.
Now for the fine print, this is a handmade instrument; there are small flaws here and there, though it is hard to find them. This was handmade in my shop over a years time, I take my time and do things right. Be warned that the neck was not made by me. Because I take my time building (I have a real job after all) I did not have the intended neck complete. So to be ready for the auction I purchased a Fender licensed neck and completed it. With that said, this guitar has many, many hours and many dollars invested all going to a good cause. I seriously doubt that the high bidder will be disappointed. These pictures do not do the guitar justice.

Body :
· Swamp Ash – 6.8 lbs (total guitar comes in at 10 lbs, yeah maybe a
bit heavy, but tone doesn’t come from cardboard, man!)
Tuning Keys :
· Gotoh Vintage 15: 1 gear ratio (Not going out of tune with these!!)
Neck Pickup :
· Single Coil; Alnico Magnet 7.0 K ohms
Bridge Pickup :

Electronics :

· Shielded body Cavities
Action (Set to Fender original specs – and yes it is low!) :
· Low E at 17th Fret = 5/64”
· High E at 17th Fret = 4/64”
Finish :
Vintage Nitrocellulose Lacquer. Yes, the good Stuff. This ain’t that tone sucking catalyzed polyurethane your momma warned you about. This is the good old fashioned nitro, sure to let that wood sing. Because its nitro, remember, an alcoholic drink spilled on it can melt the finish. A cigarette will burn right through it. And yes it will yellow over time to give it that highly sought after vintage glow. Oh and don’t put it on a stand that has rubber tubing for protection, it will melt into the nitro, it will be a gooey mess!
Case :
· Good Old Fashioned TWEED, baby!
